A Noob’s Guide to Statz

June 13th, 2007

This post was prompted by me wanting of an end of school present. I pondered, continuously rubbed my chin. Suddenly a revelation! A stats tracker! What better way to further my blogging efforts? However, there exists a dilemma for myself, and for other site owners: there are so many site analytics services, how do you choose? Maybe Mint by Shaun Inman will do. It has gotten rave reviews. My site doesn’t have an analytics software, and I really need one. Here are some of the questions that you might ask about site analytics (aka Statz).

What is a stats tracker, and why do I want one?

In the simplest form, a stats tracker would show how many visitors I have, and other assorted scrummtious digital tidbits . However, what if I want to know where y’all came from? A good stats tracker would let me see how far I have come…and how far I have yet to go on my Epic Blogging Quest.

This is how Glenn Wolsey explained the necessity of a stats tracker, which I am sadly lacking.

Stats are very important though. I love to see where visitors are coming from, where they are clicking, and what posts are the most popular. Mint is a product that helps you keep tab on your blogs stats. In my opinion, Mint is the premier stat tracking product on the market, not even Googles’ Analytics beats Mint.
What are the options?

Mint has gotten a lot of recommendations so far, and it seems to be very popular. However, you might ask..

What is Mint?

Mint is a really awesome. I am sorry. I couldn’t help myself. It was created by Shaun Inman, as I have already mentioned. In addition lots of really legit bloggers use it. Some I have already mentioned. Here are the rest.

Basically it is really legit. I hope somebody can help with my decision.

Anybody else use it? Tell me.
