More Forza (MOOT MOOT MOOT)

June 24th, 2007

So when last I left you guys I had just finished emblazoning Yotsuba’s head on the front of my (Forza 2 only) Nissan Fairlady Z. Today you guys get to see how Moot has progressed over the past 24 hours.
To start Moot, I began by laying down a blackline for his face and ears, seen below. This helps a lot because it means I can get the outline easily and I don’t have to fill things in by hand with assorted polygons. In the long run, it’s way easier. Check it:

black line-- not so inspiring

To illustrate how much easier blacklining makes things, notice how much easier it gets to colour in things like hair after blacklining– all I need to do is group-copy, change the colours around, and resize the layers so a thin black line shows up. This can be most easily seen in the way in which I coloured the right ear and hair-extendy things on Moot, shown below. Don’t mind the colours in the middle, you’ll see what happens with them:

sexy sexy sexy

So now that that’s done, the same colouring can be done to the other side, and finally, the original pear-shapey outline of moot’s face itself can be cut and pasted to the top layer over the old colours, like so:

Can you see how this one's coming together?

And there you have it! Two hours of work went into that alone, so the rest should be a real challenge. I’ll keep y’all posted!
