The Top 10 Songs To Get Pumped for Transformers
July 4th, 2007Technically, Transformers should have come out today, like it’s poster said it would. However, yesterday you could have watched it in theaters, at least in theaters near me. So, this might seem a little bit delayed. Anyway, I was thinking about what songs would get me in the mood to watch some heart pumping cyber destruction.
I just couldn’t go in cold, or I had a feeling that the catastrophic increase in adrenaline caused by my fan boy obsession would cause a sensory overload. So I had to get the adrenaline rushing before. I made this list.
Fire it up: Black Label Society
The first on the list.
Why did I pick this? Plain and simple. Transformers involves lots of fire and weapons. Lost of large guns and explosions.
It also contains the essential feeling of what I wanted to convey with this playlist. Getting fired up. Although I have to admit, Black Label Society is quite ugly compared to the stunning, voluptuous lines of the Decepticons and Autobots.
Iron Man: Black Sabbath
I can imagine Optimus Prime flexing his large metallic muscles and whispering (in a raspy voice of course) to Mrs. Prime, “I am Iron Man.”
Other than that, it is a really awesome song. A real classic. Ozzy’s voice wails along with the guitars from Tony Iommi. Not to mention Iommi’s metal fingertips, which he had installed after his originals were removed in an accident.
You’re A Woman, I’m a Machine: Death from Above 1979
With two players, and only bass, drums, and vocals, this song by Death from Above is all noise metal. Really awesome once again, but I wouldn’t have put it on here if it wasn’t awesome.
They are super shredders.
Rocket Queen: Guns and Roses
Guns and Roses gets me really pumped up. Rocket Queen reminded me of Valkyrie, a robot from the Super Dimension Macross anime series. Basically, a Japanese style precursor to Transformers. (Ask me about it if you are really interested.)
That alone, and it’s sheer legitness earned it a spot on the list.
Templars of Steel: Hammerfall
What are Transformers? Templars of Steel of course!
Although I am sure that the Transformers aren’t wielding shields or swords, they are valiant knights, forever protecting the rights of the innocent. Even though they have cold steel hearts.
Powerslave: Iron Maiden
Computer Chips. Bolts. Nuts. Screws. POWER. Get pumped, man cause this is going to be a wild electronic ride. The epic guitars and the voice of Bruce Dickinson are pure pumped.
Power : Transformers obsession :: Fanboy : Slave
The Sentinel or Hellrider: Both by Judas Priest
Amidst the upturned burned-out cars
The challengers await
And in their fists clutch iron bars
With which to seal his fate
Across his chest is scabbards rest
The rows of throwing knives
Whose razor points in challenged tests
Have finished many lives
Pure awesomeness. Both songs get me super pumped. The quote of lyrical genius above is from “The Sentinel”.
Seek and Destroy: Metallica
Once again, a perfect tie in.
If you want peace, Prepare for War: Children of Bodom
This last song applies perfectly to the whole theme of the Transformers movie(s). The Autobots want peace, but they are obligated to fight the Decepticons.
CoB really gets me pumped up. Here is their lyrical genius:
Get up and fight, release your rage, come on and fight
Standing straight faced, it is your fate, calling my name
Calling me pain, and if you stay, you’ll bite the scythe
Waiting for you I want to just tell you
If you want peace, prepare for war!
I am really looking forward to seeing the movie.
GET PUMPED!!!!!!!!!! AND YES CAPS LOCK AND EXCESSIVE EXCLAMATIONS ARE NECESSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you have any feedback or additional suggestions, feel free to post them in comments.
